For your consideration this lot is a pair of Nez Perce Beaded Moccasins, circa late 19th to early 20th century, framed. This pair of well-worn moccasins made from tanned hide with geometric designs of glass seed beadwork of black, red, orange yellow and light blue. The Nez Perce people made moccasins from animal hides for generations. They used a variety of techniques to construct moccasins, including side-seam, one-piece, and two-piece styles. The Nez Perce have used a variety of traditional geometric and floral patterns in decorations and beadwork, along with representations of birds and animals. The moccasins are mounted in a shadow box display case with hardware on the reverse for wall hanging the case. Moccasins measure 3.5"W x 7.5"L approximately. Case measures 9.25"W x 11.25"L x 2.25"D, combined weight is 2lb, 6oz.
