Antique Matched Pair of English Percussion Belt Pistols, cased with accoutrements, NVSN, .54 cal., 8'' octagonal barrels with tiny blade front sights are unmarked; serpentine back-action locks have delicate floral engraving and the name ''Greaves'' behind hammers; steel furniture includes engraved loop trigger guards with pineapple-like front tangs and long rear ones, and two ferrules retaining the brass-tipped hardwood ramrods; varnished one-piece English walnut halfstocks are checkered at bag-style grips, have rectangular German-silver inlays atop wrists, matching oval barrel wedge escutcheons and nosecaps. Mfg'd ca. 1840s-60s. Condition is very good. Metal surfaces retain no original finish but are a dark gunmetal color with scattered light discoloration. The 11''x14.5'' varnished mahogany case is lined in a fine teal baize cloth and partitioned in the English style for the pistols, a copper and brass lozenge-shaped powder flask, twin ebony and walnut brass-tipped ramrods, wood-handled turnscrew, two percussion cap tins, two covered sections with ivory knobs containing linen patches, and a number of cast lead balls, all in very good condition. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (Antique)(Don Koll collection)
