Item Description: Antique 18th Century Thaler Silver coin hanging ornament. Ornate and unique memento of Frederick Augustus III (1763-1806) the Elector of Saxony (Eastern Germany, capital Dresden). He later became the King of Saxony in 1805, following the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire and the establishment of the Kingdom of Saxony. This ornate hand-crafted silver coin hanging ornament, which is similar to a tea strainer, is comprised of coins bearing his image at the top and bottom dated 1766 and 1788 respectively. The center bowl portion of the ornament is beautifully crafted and comprised of small silver coins from the period of his reign.
