For your consideration is a rare, antique, forged iron double hammer and wooden bench plane. The hammer is an Evansville Tool Works forged iron double head hammer, circa early 1900's. This rare piece shows a long, possible white oak, handle that is marked "2" on the bottom. The forged iron hammer head shows excellent blacksmithing with a double head for striking on both the forward and back strokes. The hammer head cheek is stamped "Evansville Tool Works" and has an oval eye. This piece shows a nice patina on the iron and the head and handle are both in good condition, however the head is a bit loose. The hammer measures approximately 19 3/4" long and the head measures 6" wide with a 1" diameter face. Also in this lot is a wooden bench plane. The cherry colored wooden body is marked "Smith, Lyon & Field New York 19" on the front end. The blade is cast steel and is marked Sandusky Tool Company. A bench plane is a hand plane that is used so often that they usually “sit on the bench” and are used for flattening, dimensioning, & smoothing wood. Examples include Jointer Planes, Jack Planes, Smoothing Planes, and Block Planes. This piece measures approximately 22" long.
