Antique ABCO Rochester Brass Converted Oil Lamps
Offered in this lot is a Collection of Antique ABCO Rochester Brass Converted Oil Lamp Sconces with Hand-painted Globe Shades (3), circa early 1900s, electrified. The Rochester Lamp Company (1884-1905) designed a center draft oil lamp, the "Rochester", which became one of the best designed and best made center draft lamps of the late 1880s. With the advent and eventual spread of electric lighting to home use, vintage oil lamps were converted for electrical use thus keeping the Victorian styling of the old lamps. All three lamps features hand-painted floral design globes, the styling typical of the Victorian era, with period burner and flame spreader and spittoon reservoir. The larger two globes are in nice condition, each measures 9.5" diameter x 9.5"H, base mouth is 3.5" diameter, top is 3" diameter, 30" circumference, 4lb, 8oz. The smaller globe exhibits crack repairs, chipping to base mouth edge and measures 8.5" diameter x 8.75"H, base mouth 3.5" diameter, top mouth is 3" diameter, 28" circumference, weight 3lb, 4oz. Approximate combined weight is 12.5lb.
