Lot of 3 photos. 1) An Indian woman is seated on the ground in front of her home, grinding meal with a traditional manor and metate. Several dogs sit and stand nearby. The photo is mounted on a gray matte (with two holes punched in one end for a ring binder), and the matte is stamped “Messenger Views, Phoenix A.T.” 2) this photo shows an Indian woman in a long dress with a plaid shawl draped over her shoulders, holding a small black puppy. She is standing in front of an adobe building with a wooden door directly behind her. The roof appears to be thatched. She looks to be of a Pueblo tribe, as the adobe behind her suggests. Photo measures 4 ½ x 7 ½.” It is glued to a black matte (also with holes punched at one end for a ring binder). No photographer is noted. 3) This is a picture of an adult Indian climbing up (or down) a crude wooden ladder leaning against an adobe pueblo. The person is holding a large bundle wrapped in a blanket over his/her shoulder that obscures the upper part of the body. A small child about 5 years old sits at the base of the pueblo, and two pigs stand beyond the ladder’s base. The photo is captioned, “Home Life in Acoma” (Acoma Pueblo, Grants Co., NM). Measures 4 ½ x 6 ½” and is also glued to gray album paper. No photographer is indicated.
