Incorporated in New Jersey in 1881. Certificate #110, issued to Chas. T. Cobb for 250 shares in 1882. Signed by president Geo. W. Dickson, Jr. and secretary Geo. Dickson. Printed by Henry Seibert & Bros., NY. Vignette on left is a cross section of mine shaft with miners lower a bucket to the men below. Top center vignette shows miners working in a tunnel. U/C. Folds. Black border and print. 6 ½ x 11 ½.” Balch (1882, p. 1178) reports the company’s property lies 800 feet northwest of Mack Morris mine, in the Richmond basin, Globe mining district. Ransome (1903, pgs. 114-117 and Barns, pgs. 103, 113) report that in 1876 Mack Morris was the locator of the first silver mine in Richmond Basin, where people could actually pick up silver nuggets. Morris’ mine was incorporated in 1881 and became the Union League Silver MC. The Union League name is derived from the Union League, a fraternal organization in support of the Union during and after the Civil War, still in existence today. The main office is in Philadelphia, which today houses the Union League collection. The building and contents are a marvelous complement to the Union theme, and to American history. Extra Rare.
