Brown Bess Musket Showing Crude conversion (Possibly American) from flintlock to percussion marked “Goff” and dated “1779” at the rear of the lock with “4” over heart and “V” over E.I.” initial indicating east Indiacompany use. Measures 54” overall with a 38 ½” barrel (Third model). #51 stamped neatly in left butt stock. The hammer and bolster are crudely forged and have an American or southern look. The stock shows some minorfill and wood repairs and restoration. No ramrod. Lock works well and the markings are good. Last sold in the Fred Slayton confederate arms collection by Little Johns in the 1990s. (Antique) Est.: $1500-$3000
