1949 RCA Victor 8X542 White Bakelite Tube AM Radio
Item/Description: Vintage 1949 RCA Victor Model 8X542 AM Tube Radio, a sought-after collector's item known for its iconic design. This radio is housed in a durable bakelite case finished in a color often referred to as "Antigua Ivory" or simply white, which contrasts with the gold-toned circular tuning dial. As an AM superheterodyne tube radio, it represents a common form factor of the era, utilizing an "All American Five" tube configuration typical of tabletop radios from the late 1940s. Its main features include a circular frequency display marked from 55 to 100 on the dial, a ribbed speaker grille integrated into the lower half of the front casing, and a distinctive vertical bronze-colored accent piece running down the center of the top and front of the case.
