Item/Description: Commemorative earthenware macaron plaque by Villeroy & Boch, finished in a brown glaze, inscribed with "10-9-1944," to honor September 10, 1944, the day Luxembourg was liberated from Nazi occupation by American forces during World War II. The plaque features the Luxembourg motto "Mir welle bleiwe wat mer sinn," meaning "We want to remain what we are." Features the profile bust of Grand Duchess Charlotte, who was the head of state during the German occupation and a symbol of national identity and independence. "Made in Luxembourg" is inscribed on the back. Includes small metal hanging loop and a metal display stand.
