The saddle is in good condition with a beautiful basket weave tooling to the fenders, skirt, and seat jockey. The saddle is marked Gillette Round-up; U.S. American Legion 1880; and 1937. The makers mark is located on the latigo keeper and Newberry Alliance really made a great saddle that is standing the test of time with good working condition. Newberry's went into business in Alliance, Nebaska in 1888, and although they stopped making saddles about 100 years later, they are still in business in the same building operating as Benny's Hardware today. The seat measures 14" and the gusset measures 8".
