Featured in this lot is this 1934 first edition Warpath: The True Story of the Fighting Sioux Told in a Biography of Chief White Bull by Stanley Vestal. Warpath, written by Stanley Vestal and first published in 1934, is a biography of the Oglala Lakota warrior Crazy Horse. Vestal, whose real name was Walter S. Campbell, was a historian and professor who wrote extensively on Native American history. In Warpath, he draws from firsthand accounts and oral histories, including interviews with individuals who knew Crazy Horse or had been present at key events, to create a narrative of Crazy Horse's life, focusing on his resistance to U.S. encroachment on Lakota lands. The book comes complete with a museum or collectors tag that reads as follows: 1396-87 O'dell. The condition of this book shows some wear to the cloth wrapped cover and to the outside spine and shows some browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this book is 8 3/8" x 5 3/4". The collective weight of this book is 1lb 6oz. Provenance: From the John Kleinschmidt collection which was on loan to the C.M.
