1920s Kienzle Uhrenfabriken Radium Gong Wall Clock
For your consideration is this vintage 1920s Kienzle Uhrenfabriken wall clock with a Radium Gong chime. The company was founded in Schwenningen in southern Germany, in the Black Forest, by Johannes Schlenker, in 1822, making it the oldest watchmaking brand in Germany. Sixty years later, the company had about 20 employees and was making about 20,000 wall-clocks and table clocks per year. In 1883, Jakob Kienzle became part of the family by marriage, and took the helm of the company, becoming its sole owner in 1897. The company name is changed to Kienzle Uhrenfabriken in 1919. The clock features a two dial face and a pendulum in a wood case. The front features three glass panes so you can see the pendulum. Inside the case there is a metal plaque reading, "Radium Gong" showing that the clock has a Radium Gong chime. The clock face shows numbers 1-12 and is worn from age. The clock comes with a Swiss made winding key. Overall the clock shows good condition with no signs of obvious damage to the casing or the mechanism. It is missing a side cover. The clock has not been tested for functionality. The clock measures 28 1/4" L x 13 3/4" W x 7 3/4" D.
