1889 President George Washington Thirteen Links Inaugural Centennial Medal. Musante GW-187, Douglas-52A. High-Relief Struck in White Metal. PCGS graded SP-61.
53.4 mm. 805.5 grains. A distinctive, historical designed attractive sharply struck medal, pairing an Obverse with Charles Cushing Wright's High-relief Bust of Washington, after Houdon, with a Reverse featuring a 13-Links of the original American Colonies of the early 1787 Federal period “Fugio” Cents, the 1776 “Fugio” Continental Currency Design issues and the famous 1776 Continental "Dollars." This medal is mostly satiny and brilliant with semi-prooflike fields. It is even more Satiny on the devices, being in pleasant contrast to the fields. Provenance: These rare medals were by the Chapman brothers in 1889.
