Item/Description: Bernard Bloch tobacco jar produced in Teplitz, Austria (then part of Austria-Hungary) in the late 19th century. Made from hand-painted earthenware, this piece serves as a humidor, with the head lifting off the base to store pipe tobacco, and often used for tobacco trade advertising. This particular jar showcases the head of a black woman adorned with a headscarf, curly hair, pearls, and an orange shirt. Underside marked BB 337 DEP.
