1850s Pewter Bachelors Teapot Victorian England -Dixon
A bachelor in a boarding house was not considered worthy of a full pot of tea, so this half pot size was brought instead. It became known as the Bachelor's Teapot, and this is a fine example in pewter. This pot was made in England around 1850 by Dixon & Sons of Sheffield. It has a pear shaped body on a low pedestal base, with finial on the hinged top, and black painted wooden scroll handle. The condition is very good, with some normal minor surface wear, and small ding on the left side of the spout. The dimensions are 6 inches tall x 6 1/4 inches wide. * * This is a charming small or single serving antrique teapot.
