101A: A Late Roman / Early Byzantine Geometric Mosaic
From Roman Syria, ca. a300-500 CE. This is a large rectangular section of a Roman mosaic floor with a progressive geometric pattern. The small, multi-colored tesserae are all original and the mosaic section is set into a sturdy iron bordered concrete base. This beautiful example features the tones and colors that interior decorators so love to work with. It can be used as a console table, set into a wall or used in a floor. **A strong, custom made, black angle-iron stand is also available separately should the buyer wish it. The stand is 36”H, 50”L, 16” deep, and has a lower shelf on which objects could be displayed** Mosaic itself measures 72-1/2”L x 17-3/4"W.

Provenance: From an old Swiss collection, originally found in northern Syria near the Turkish border. This wonderful mosaic is part of a collection which recently was on loan exhibit at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Salem, Oregon.
