Virgil Partch - Big George Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 5-15-71 (Field Enterprises, 1971). Virgil Franklin Partch, better known as VIP, has a unique slant to his cartoons and a style that's instantly recognizable. In 1960 he developed a syndicated cartoon panel featuring and titled, Big George. George was the cartoon antecedent of Rodney Dangerfield's character who "gets no respect." This poke at contemporary life gives us a glimpse into the creative process and George's lively approach to keeping his mind occupied. The art measures 20" x 14." There is a small piece of discolored paper attached to the lower left corner, but it is outside of the image area, otherwise this work is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Gill Fox.
