Bob Crane Nazi Hat from Hogan's Heroes
Start Price: 100.00High Bid: 1,000.00Estimate: 3,300.00 - 3,700.00
This Nazi Officer's hat was worn by the character "Col. Robert E. Hogan," portrayed by actor Bob Crane, in the classic television series, "Hogan’s Heroes." The WWII style blue and silver German military officer's cap is decorated with Nazi Eagle pin, Luftwaffe wreath device, double silver braid, and has the actor's last name "Crane" handwritten in black ink in the interior. Mr. Crane can be seen wearing the hat in "Hogan's Double Life" (Season 6, Episode 22). In this particular episode, Hogan is identified by a Gestapo officer while taking part in a sabotage operation outside of the POW camp. In an elaborate plan to discredit the officer and throw him off his trail, Hogan decides to impersonate a Nazi officer and infiltrate a birthday party for a German Field Marshall. After cozying up to the elderly Field Marshall and convincing the man that they are old friends, Hogan denies his true identity when confronted by the officer later at the party, effectively establishing the alibi that he has a Nazi "doppelganger" in order to throw suspicion off of himself and continue working for the Allies from behind enemy lines. Mr. Crane can be seen clearly wearing this hat and full Nazi uniform in the scene with two of his fellow POW's while preparing to leave the camp for the party via their underground tunnel network. "Hogan's Heroes," which ran from 1965-1971, caused considerable controversy when the series first launched. Paramount Pictures unsuccessfully attempted to sue Bing Crosby Productions for copyright infringement for the series, claiming that it stole its premise from their 1953 film "Stalag 17," while many others felt that a Nazi prisoner of war camp was an inappropriate backdrop for a lighthearted comedy. But despite its somewhat rocky start, the series gained immense popularity, largely due to the onscreen charisma of leading man Bob Crane as "Hogan." Hogan's impersonation of a Nazi officer was a recurring plot device used in multiple episodes of the long running series, and while several different hat and device combinations were used over the course of the impressive six-year run, this specific cap was worn in the sixth and final season of the series. After its use on the final season of the show, the hat had the original removable braids and devices exchanged for use on separate productions, and was re-blocked to restore its shape after heavy use. Both are common practices within the motion picture and television industry. The hat is in good screen worn condition with minor evidence of age and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.

This Egyptian short schenti was worn by a charioteer in Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 silent epic, "The Ten Commandments." The tan and red-striped cotton twill with attached decorative pendant belt and faux-leather end piece was used by one of the Egyptian charioteers during the spectacular sequence in front of the Egyptian city where Rameses commands his army after the Exodus. Most of the chariot crashes that occurred during the filming were real and unplanned, and these schentis can be seen quite clearly in a close shot of a chariot crash as the charioteers struggle with their horses. Unlike DeMille’s 1956 remake of his original silent film, only the first half of the 1923 version is set in Ancient Egypt. It following the biblical story of Moses leading the Jews from Egypt, the destruction of the Egyptian army at the Red Sea, and Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. The second half of the film is a morality tale based on the Ten Commandments, set in modern times. The schenti is in excellent screen worn condition with only minor evidence of age. The cloth and faux-leather end piece of the attached pendant belt show markings of having had additional painted designs and ornamentation that has since been removed. This piece was acquired directly from the Paramount Studios Costume Department and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

Cleopatra Wig Stand
Start Price: 300.00High Bid: 300.00Estimate: 3,300.00 - 3,700.00
This Egyptian style wig stand was used in the 1963 epic motion picture, “Cleopatra,” starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The gold colored stand is constructed of carved wood with a molded hollow top and is hand painted with red, blue, and yellow details. The stand was one of approximately eight that were custom made for use on the production and were used to display Cleopatra’s royal wig collection. The stands sat in a two-tier display in the queen’s dressing area and can be clearly seen in several scenes that take place in Cleopatra’s private chambers. A virtually identical stand was seen in a close up shot during one of the scenes Cleopatra shares with her ladies in waiting. “Cleopatra” was the most expensive movie ever made at its time and nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox after filming had concluded. This was largely due to difficulties and budget overruns caused by the film’s star, Elizabeth Taylor. The actress was awarded a record-breaking one million dollar contract, which eventually swelled to seven million due to delays in production. Additional delays were caused by an illness Ms. Taylor suffered which later required the production to completely relocate. The film suffered further scandal when the married Taylor and Burton embarked on a very public affair during the production, causing widespread moral outrage among the general public. Despite its controversy, critics praised “Cleopatra,” and the film received four Academy Awards in 1964, including Best Special Visual Effects, Best Costume Design (Color), Best Cinematography (Color), and Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (Color). The wig stand is in good condition with some paint cracking and evidence of age. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

This police officer's shirt was worn by a Cocoa Beach Police Officer character in the classic television series "I Dream of Jeannie" starring Barbara Eden. This tan button front short sleeve shirt with black epaulets and flap pockets is complete with the original custom made "Police, Cocoa Beach, Fla." patches on both sleeves. This version of the police shirt first appeared in the third season of the immensely popular series (Cocoa Beach Police Officers in earlier seasons wore a blue shirt). They then often appeared in subsequent seasons of the show during the many sequences where Jeannie's antics involved local law enforcement. "I Dream of Jeannie" remains one of the best-loved vintage television comedies of the 60's era and ran from 1965-1970. The show made Barbara Eden a household name and was also somewhat of a departure for her co-star Larry Hagman (later of “Dallas Fame”) who had mostly taken on dramatic roles prior to the success of "Jeannie." The garment is in good screen worn condition with some minor fraying on the patches due to age and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
