Magnificent decoy by one of the first guides at the Delta Marsh Club. Decoys by this maker have been closely held by serious Louisiana decoy collectors.

OUTSTANDING early pintail drake decoy ca. 1935 by Mark Whipple, Bourg, LA. (1884-1961). Glass eyes, wing carving and a lead keel weight. Dry rot was removed by hunter from top of tail and replaced with wood patch and a small piece of wood is missing from under the tail. OP with wear and some paint loss near the neck. Typical tight pulled back neck to breast form. Nice long broomtail.

RARE early mallard drake decoy ca. 1900 by Gaston Isadore, Phoenix, LA., (1871-1932) with glass eyes and raised carved wings and tail detail. Cypress root construction. One of Louisiana's earliest and finest decoy makers. In all original paint. Large shot scars and average in use wear. The orange hue or tint to the surface color at the waterline and below would indicate that this decoy was used at the mouth of the Mississippi River near Port Sulphur, LA. The orange hue is the reaction of the lead paint to the high content of sulphur found in that area.
