This is an authentic Ancient Pre-Historic stone sceptre / sword attributed to the Middle Woodlands period dating to circa 200 BCE to 500 CE. The Neo-lithic stone artifact shows green stone coloring with wide central area and tapering ends. Each end comes to a sharp tapered end which could have been used as a weapon or for scraping purposes. The piece shows excellent craftsmanship with a wonderful uniform design in the taper and the correct drill and scraped carved markings for its early authentic age. Provenance: From a renowned French Native American artifact auction, Alliance Thion Encheres, in October 7, 2005, and inspected by expert antiquity analyzer; François Bigot. Francois Bigot described the piece as being an ancient “..large green stone sceptre – Woodlands.” A copy of the sales bill with this exquisite piece shown in attached in the images. The piece is from the same private museum collection from Paris, France and the same Alliance Encheres sale as the Woodlans Hopewell Fox & Snake Pipe 200 BCE in the North American Auction Co. 11/18/2017 sale that sold for $984 and the Woodlands Hopewell Raven Pipe from 200 BCE in the North American Auction Co. 9/30/2017 sale that sold for $615 (both represented with premiums). The piece was originally purchased from the Encheres Auction for 600 Euros ($750 USD) in 2005. This is truly a very unique and uncommon stone artifact with a wonderful documented sales history and exquisite authentic age. Measures 18.25”L x 1.75”W x 1 1/8”D.
