Winchester model 1866 special order carbine, .44 rimfire caliber, full nickel finish, select wood stocks, sling swivel, #164512. The carbine retains approx. 50-60% original nickel on barrel and magazine tube that is peeling and lifting andareas where nickel has drifted show a brown to dark patina finish with some erosion just starting in these areas. The barrel address is sharp and clear, the frame shows 95% original nickel with just some beginning peel. The lever and hammershow 50-70% nickel. The loading gate and buttplate show traces of nickel to about 20% with balance dark beginning to pit. The select wood stock have been lightly cleaned but are very good with good high wood to metal fit and no evidence of sandin The sling swivels appear correct. The rear sight is marked 1873 which is proper on this late carbine. The action good, the bore fair, with some erosion and one ring. Nickel finish confirmed by factor letter.
