Winchester Model 1895 Takedown Lever Action Rifle
This Winchester Model 1895 Take-Down Sporting Rifle was manufactured in 1927. The rifle has a full blue finish with varnished walnut stock and forearm. The forearm has the distinctive flared tip and the stock has a crescent steel buttplate. The rifle is fitted with a Lyman, "Winchester Express" front sight with brass bead, a sporting style rear sight and a Lyman "WR-WT" receiver sight. The top of the receiver is matted. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: "- NICKEL STEEL BARREL- / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER/ -.35 W.C.F." below the rear sight. The top of the barrel and receiver are stamped with the Winchester oval, "W/P", proofmarks. The Winchester patent dates are stamped in two elongated lines on the left side of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped: "MODEL 95/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S.PAT.OFF & FGN." in three lines. The serial number is stamped on the lower receiver tang.

Excellent. The rifle retains 90% plus of the original blue finish. Finish wear is limited to some minor flaking on the barrel extension, the right side of the receiver, the side of the receiver sight and the buttplate. The barrel and receiver show minimal handling wear. All of the markings are crisp. The stock is refinished and the forearm is in excellent condition with minimal wear and nearly all of the original varnish finish. This is an excellent example of a scarce, late production Winchester Model 1895 Take-Down Sporting Rifle.
