Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle, 45-70 caliber, 26” octagon barrel, full magazine, blue and case hardened finish, standard wood stocks, crescent butt, serial #96552. The left side of the butt stockperiod stamped “C G H” indicating citizen guard of Hawaii. The barrel and magazine tube show 75-85% original blue that is evenly toning and aging; there is some minor erosion and pinprick pitting in a few small areas.The edges are sharp, the barrel address is crisp. The frame shows 75-85% colorful case hardening on left side and 50-70% on right side with some spotting and erosion just starting. The stocks are very good plus withstorage marks, a few dings, mars and scratches. The rifle shows a folding express-type rear sight (factory and a standard from sight). The action is tight, the bore is bright. There have been severalarticles written on these Winchesters used in the Wilcox Rebellion which was a clandestine affair preceding Hawaii becoming a territory of the United States.
