S/N 332959, circa 1890, .22 caliber short RF, 24” barrel, one of the earliest 22 rifles manufactured. “S.F. Cody” script engraved on dust cover rail, “S.F. Cody Jr” block stamped on both sides of stock near butt plate. CONDITION: Usual black powder bore for a .22. Barrel has 25% blue under magazine tube, tube has 40% blue with numerous scratches, hammer and lever dark with shadows of case color, lifter block, lifter lever, dust cover and lever latch are missing, magazine rod complete, wood is dark and solid having honest use dings, correct sights. Comes with Cody's wooden crate used for carrying his rifles. Steel edges and strapping with fittings for locks. Leather straps on lid. Early counter felts used for padding.
