Manufactured in 1891, this particular example is a Third Model 1873 rifle manufactured with the distinctive integral dust cover rail. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's patent dates ahead of the rear sight, "38 W.C.F." at the breech and "38 CAL." on the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. Silver blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. Full magazine, all blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, and mounted with a smooth forearm with iron end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate, with compartment.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 70% bright original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some scattered mild spotting and pitting. The hammer retains 80% original case colors and traces of case colors on the lever. The otherwise fine refinished wood has some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
