Manufactured in 1888, this Third Model features a blade brass beaded Marble's front and adjustable buckhorn rear sporting sights, full length magazine tube, and dust cover rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two line address/King's patent date marking ahead of the rear sight and "22 SHORT" at the breech. The upper tang is stamped "MODEL 1873" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. BBL: 24 inch octagon

Serial Number: 266129B
Condition: Custom refinished (many years ago) with nearly all of the professionally applied blue finish remaining on the barrel, magazine tube and receiver and showing a small amount of pin prick type pitting under the finish over the barrel address. Most of the blue finish has flaked off of the hammer, lever and buttplate, (which were originally casehardened), leaving a mottled grayish blue patina. The wood remains very fine as highly revarnished with a few minor dings and crisp custom checkering. The markings are legible. The action is fine. An attractive custom Winchester model 1873 in desirable .22 short caliber!
