Offered for sale is a High Condition World War II Spreewerke Nazi German P38 9mm Pistol. The pistol features a 4 7/8" barrel, one 8 round magazine, fixed sights, matching numbers, proper Bakelite grips, and a blue'd finish. The P38 was the first locked-breech pistol to use a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger (the earlier double-action PPK was an unlocked blowback design, but the more powerful 9×19mm Parabellum round used in the P38 mandated a locked breech design). The pistol shows a CYQ code marking indicating that this pistol was made by the Spreewerke factory in Germany in April 1944. This was a short two months before the U.S. D-Day invasion of Normandy. It is very possible this was a bring-back war trophy from that massive attack as this would account for the excellent overall condition expected of a pistol that was only in service for a couple of months before being captured and liberated. Matching numbers, beautiful blue and grips, correct magazine, this is an outstanding example of one of the first successful double action 9mm service pistols ever made and was the official pistol of Nazi Germany during most of the 2nd. World War. The P38 was the handgun that replaced the more delicate Luger pistol. The mechanics are in good condition, showing smooth tight function. The bore is bright with strong rifling. This pistol was manufactured in April 1944. Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 5048 N.
