This is a nice example of a mid-WWI German Luger as manufactured by DWM in 1916 with British (capture) proof marks. This pistol has a rust blued finish with the straw colored small parts with checkered walnut grips. The British proofmarks that consist of the Crown over the "BNP" proof, are located on top of the breechblock, left side of the barrel, barrel extension and frame rail. While the under side of the barrel is marked with the full British proofmarks that consist of; "9 M/M, 752/ 15 TONS PER/" then the small symbol for square inch. The top of the chamber area is dated 1916 and the front toggle is marked "DWM", for Deutsch Waffen Und Munitions factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the three "Crown/Script" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The safety and extractor are correctly marked "Gesichert" and "Geladen" and it has the fixed front and notch rear sight with the stock lug on the back strap. The magazine is a nickel plated WWI version with a wood bottom base plate numbered "9475o/+".
