Three drugstore bottles of different sizes and shapes, with tooled tops: 1) A 6” oval with rounded sides. Front embossed “W. Pinniger/ Apothecary/ Reno, Nev.” and no maker’s mark on the bottom. Clear glass, smokey yellow coloration indicated lack of manganese during glass production, and will not purple. Small bubble on bottom, and some interior staining. Cork trapped inside bottle. 2) A 5.25” oval with rounded sides. Front embossed “W. Pinniger/ Apothecary/ Reno, Nev.” and “4” embossed on bottom. Clear glass with purple hue from Manganese during glass production. Small bubbles throughout, some interior staining. 3)A 4.5” oval with beveled edges. Front embossed “Wm. Pinniger/ Reno, Nevada.” A diamond with an “M” in the center is embossed on the bottom. Clear glass, purple hue, 2 small chips on beveled edges. Blister on bottom and wear within neck. William Pinniger, 1845 England, built a drug store with Richard E. Queen in 1879, which Queen managed. Pinniger went into business for himself after 1886 and sold his store in 1900 [Ref:Nevada History Through Glass, Vol II, Fred Holabird, 2012].
