<td width="100%">
This lovely skirt dates to the turn of the century, and is made of a black silk satin fabric. It is lined in a heavy fabric, I think it is a cotton blend. Most of this skirt is made by hand and all of the stitches are wonderfully done. It is a slight A-line with a little train. It opens on the left front with hook and eyes and snaps. It moves & hangs beautifully. The waistband is triple, horizontally pleated, and the bottom "brush" band is actually tiny brushes! Most of these "brush" bands are a band of velvet or other material to catch the dust. This skirt is in very good condition with the only exceptions being a 2" slit midway down the front and another smaller slit at the very bottom where a few of the "brushes" are also missing. See picture. I think both of these slits could be easily repaired. You would look very elegant in this skirt when matched with the bodice that is shown with it. This bodice is not available in this auction, but is on another auction. This skirt is also of a good size, in fact I had to lap it over and pin it for the pictures. I don't normally approve of wearing vintage clothing, however, this skirt is quite sturdy and large enough that I feel it can probably be gently worn. Measurements are approximate and for information only, The waist measures 36" with front length 39" and back length 46". Thanks for looking and enjoy your bidding!
