Very Rare Smith & Wesson Pre-War 1926 44 Hand Ejector 3rd Model Target Double Action Revolver with F
This is an excellent example of a pre-war 3rd Model (Model of 1926) Smith and Wesson Hand Ejector Target revolver. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, 6 1/2" barrel, blue finish, 1/8" Patridge front sight, adjustable rear sight, checkered walnut Magna grips and that it was shipped to Bluefield Hardware Co., Bluefield, WV. as a single unit and was tagged for "Little War Creek Coal Co.". The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates, the left side "SMITH & WESSON" and the right side with the caliber designation. The right side of the frame is marked with the S&W logo and "MADE IN U.S.A.". Patridge front sight and windage adjustable rear sight. Casehardened hammer and trigger and fitted with checkered Magna grips with S&W medallions. A very rare and desirable pre-war target revolver, only 75 were manufactured with target sights, and less that 20 of these are known to exist in collectors hands today.

Excellent. The revolver retains 90% of the original finish with some wear on the muzzle, a few small areas of minor flaking on the frame, overall minor handling marks and a small area of minor spotting on the right side of the barrel. There is a drag line on the cylinder. There are a few small dings on the muzzle and forward edge of the front sight. The hammer and trigger retain almost all of the vivid original case colors with the top of the hammer having a smooth gray. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
