U.S. model 1917 Enfield-pattern bolt-action rifle by Winchester. .30-06 caliber, barrel dated 7/18 with Winchester “W” marking, serial #376166. Mounted with Winchester A5 long-tube scope on blocks affixed to thecenter portion of the barrel and breech. These rifles were used by the Marine Corps in WWI and between the wars for sniping and long range competition target shooting. Refer: Peter Senich, U.S. Marine Corps Scout, pages 2-7. The metal surfaces show most of their matte arsenal finish, the scope shows most of its original thinning blue, as do the mounts. The stock is very good plus and still fuzzy with a raised grain and shows a“RA-P” cartouche and a “3GH-K” cartouche on left side above trigger. There is one area of slight staining above the left side of the stock, probably when it was in a rack of some sort. The action is tight, interiorexcellent. The rifle shows very little to no use, just slight storage and minimal handling. From a major U.S. military collector who specialized in Marine Corps rifles. Est: $2,500 - $5,000+
