This musket was finished bright with casehardened lock plate and removable brass flash pan. It has the Waters Third Type marking of "US / A. WATERS" in front of the hammer and "MILLBURY / 1836" vertically behind the hammer. The tang is dated 1834, the right side of the barrel at the breech is marked "US / LS / P", the side plate is marked "7" and the buttplate tang is marked "US" and "3" ("3" also appears on the lower tang and buttplate tang screw). The left side of the buttstock is marked "T" next to an upside down "T29", with an additional "T" stamped on the left side of the forearm near the first barrel band and near the trigger. Good. The barrel has a smooth brown-gray patina with the the remaining surfaces having a smooth cleaned bright gray patina overall. The rear barrel band and trigger guard/lower tang have extensive minor pitting, with some light pitting on the action. The stock is very good with some minor gouges, dings and scratches, along with a couple slivers missing from the forearm. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold a full cock position.
