Produced circa 1861-1865. Replacement blade front and fixed notch rear sights, with the distinctive spring latch on the top flat, brass lifter inside the trigger guard, and the American Machine Works, Smith's Patent and Poultney & Trimble markings on the left side of the frame around the saddle ring bar (ring absent). Smooth stock, with a single barrel band, "LJG" and "JH" cartouches on the left side of the wrist, and a smooth metal buttplate.

Condition: Fine, with 40% of the original blue finish, mixed with a brown patina and showing mild handling marks overall. A lighter, irregular brown patina is visible on the barrel band. The frame has nearly half of the case color, with the balance turned a mixed gray patina. A varnish protective coat is applied overall. 90% plus of the bright blue is present on the trigger guard. Stock is fine, with dings and dents, along with a few small chips. Mechanically excellent.
