A) Dated 1872 on the right side of the receiver, various British proofs on most parts and "NS/NEP" stamped on the left side of the barrel next to the rear sight. Standard blade front and ladder rear sights and steel cleaning rod. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with cartouches and unit markings on the right side. Complete with a leather sling and Pattern 1887 bayonet.

Condition: Good as arsenal refurbished. The metal surfaces have a dark brown patina with some minor pitting on the barrel. The wood has been sanded some time ago and remains good with a 3 1/2 inch minor crack on the upper right side of the wrist, a couple of minor gouges and overall some minor dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine. The sling is good with age cracking. The bayonet is good with some moderate wear on the handle.
- B) Very faint receiver markings and various British proofs on the breech end of the barrel, lever and barrel bands. Ramped blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,200 meters. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with numerous letters and numbers stamped into the stock. Complete with a leather sling, original Pattern 1887 bayonet and cleaning rod.

Condition: Arsenal refinished with a mix of smooth brown patina and thin blue finish on the barrel. The receiver retains 90% blue finish. The wood is about good with minor to moderate dents, an old repair on top of the wrist at the receiver and some scratches. The action is fine. The sling is good with some minor age cracking and edge wear. The bayonet is good with some wear on the leather handle and some discoloration on the blade.
