Made available for bidding in this lot is an antique Turkish camel cover, composed of exceptional mineral dyed wool. Such ornate camel covers - much like this one, would traditionally be used in wedding settings. The saddle blanket shows expert craftsmanship, with a tight weave, and extremely ornate geometric design. The cover is constructed in a five-sided, elongated pentagon shape, with girthy woolen tassels draping off three of the sides. The saddle blanket originates from as early as the late 1800's, and shows very-good condition. Examples similar to this blanket typically have missing tassels. Without the extra length of the tassels, the cover measures 45 3/4" wide, and 25 1/2" deep.
