A rare bond from this famous company. $1000 6% gold bond. Signed by president. Vignette of streetcar, power house and dynamo. 17.5" x 11". #254. 1892. Street car railroad founded in 1890 by Sherman after receiving a 50-year franchise from the city. The company ran 47 miles of track starting from around from Arcade Depot in downtown Los Angeles. Power for the street cars was supplied by two Thompson-Corliss type oil steam engines made by Golden State Miners’ Iron Works in San Francisco. In 1899, the Los Angeles Consolidated Electric Railway became part of the Los Angeles Pacific Railroad, as steam trains and other rail lines were added to the system.
