Ten Commandments Hebrew's Sandals
In the last 57 years, Cecil B. Demille's epic "The Ten Commandments" (1956) has taken on monumental proportions. Perhaps mostly because its type of true spectacular filmmaking has disappeared. For example, instead of actually hiring 14,000 extras to leave Egypt under the leadership of Charlton Heston's Moses, now with a tap of a keyboard, some technician at his computer in his garage can create the same thing. And as good as it looks, somehow it feels empty. Props and costumes from this movie have become extremely collectable, and rare. These are a pair of actual screen used sandals worn by one of those 14,000 in the exodus sequence that ends with the parting of the Red Sea. It has been reported that future Cuban leader Fidel Castro was an extra in this sequence, so you may actually be getting his shoes! Made of woven hemp and straw, and in excellent condition, considering their age.
