Stevens model 44-1/2 falling block single shot rifle, .25-21 caliber, 26” half-round half-octagon medium weight barrel, double-set triggers, veneer tang sight, schutzen style stock with raised cheekpiece, nickel platedbrass schutzen-style butt, checkered insert in lever, Lyman 5A scope mounted into blocks which are drilled and tapped into the barrel, adjustable windage target-type front sight of the period. The barrel shows 80-90%original blue thinning and toning with some loss at the muzzle, some minor erosion. The frame shows 40-60% case hardening drifting to patina with some slight erosion. The stocks are very good plus with select quality, showa fancy border, and are at least very good to near fine. The action is good, bore is near excellent and still bright. There are two tap-holes with plug screws on the left side of the barrel near breech. The barrel shows“1115” stamped in front of forend, and there is a “1” underneath the forend which may be a special order indicator. An attractive single-shot rifle that was a match winner, according to our consignor. From the John
