This is an original Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine chambered in the .45-70 caliber manufactured in 1875. The trapdoor features a solid walnut hardwood stock and a round steel barrel with the original front sight. The breech block is marked "U.S. Model 1873" and the lock plate is marked "U.S. Springfield" with the eagle emblem. The serial number is marked in the rear portion of the receiver "40921". The butt plate is also marked "U.S.". The Springfield trapdoor carbine is in good condition. It is missing the rear sight as shown. The carbine measures 41.25" long. Serial number is 40921. This is an antique firearm manufactured in 1875. NO FFL required.
