SN: 343101 U.S. Military breechloading single-shot service rifle chambered in .45-70 Government, manufactured circa 1886. Features an old blued refinish, 22" barrel, pinned blade front sight, adjustable Buffington carbine rear sight, single barrel band, serrated trigger, knurled hammer spur, saddle bar & ring, smooth walnut straight grip shoulder stock and a metal trapdoor carbine buttplate containing a three piece cleaning rod & headless shell extractor. Markings: Breech - "U.S./Model/1873". Barrel - V/P/[Eagle Head] & "P". Lock - "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" & [eagle]/[arrows]. Stock - circled "P" and a "SWP/1886" cartouche. The majority of the metal surfaces display a dark aged brown patina with strong areas of bluing retained on the lock, hammer and on the underside of the breech block. Action is sound, the bore is very good+, and the wood stock is very good. Condition is NRA Very Good as refinished. ***Antique Firearm***
