South India, (c. 18th-19th century), Gold Token, Fanam like ritual object, produced for donative purposes, 0.83g, obv. joint flag-like symbol Rev: crescent and sun emblem. Extremely Fine. Objects like these were used in rituals of making an offering at south Indian temples. Similar objects in low value metals are still used in temples like Tirumala Tirupati as part of the ritual offering made to the shrine of the main and subsidiary deities.
