This is a Sokol KV2-model space suit, which was created truly to original at the NPP Zwezda, the same producer for the “large” space suits
The SOKOL KV2-model space suit was developed for the flight to the space station Mir which was assembled in orbit from 1986 until 2001 and is regarded one of the largest successes of the Soviet aerospace



Space suits were tailor-made by NPP Zwezda for every cosmonaut. After leaving the cosmonaut corps, the cosmonauts had the opportunity to purchase their space suit. However, due to the fact that the space suits were re-used again, it was not always possible. For this reason, smaller versions of their space suits were made for some of them. These possessed, such as the present example of a Sokol KV-2 suit, of almost all the original functions of the real suits. The Sokol space suit was worn by all cosmonauts on board of the Soyuz spaceship at launch, landing and docking maneuvers. It came into use for the first time in 1973 on a flight to the Russian space station MIR and is in use until today by the Russian aeronautics.



This cosmonaut suit model of the type Sokol KV-2 is a pressure suit, consisting of a white fireproof nylon fabric. Integrated are a helmet with protective visor, which is mounted on blue aluminum plastic tubes, removable gloves as well as shoes. In the front left part, there are two tubes which are responsible for oxygen and ventilation. The two thin tubes are for the communication and the transmission of medical data. A barometer is mounted to the left arm. The head of the model doll is crafted of porcelain/ceramic and the face is painted.



The model space suit bears the patches of the MNP (= Mir), CCCP and a Soviet crest. The space suit is in good condition with some staining on the fabric, scratches on the plastic protective visor of the helmet and tears in the gloves. The CCCP patch is slightly coming off. The dimensions are 86 x 40 cm (height x width).
