Smith and Wesson 1st Model Hand Ejector “Target” revolver, .44 S&W Special caliber, Serial #14277. The pistol is in fine overall condition with a 6 ½” barrel. The pistol retains approximately 95% of its muted bluefinish with small scratches along the barrel, light wear at the muzzle and a faint drag line on the cylinder. The pistol features vivid case coloring of the hammer and trigger. The checkered wood medallion gripsare in very good condition with small mars and storage wear noted. The bore is very good, the action crisp and markings are sharp. The pistol includes a Smith and Wesson factory letter confirming all features and indicating that the pistol was one of 155 Target models shipped to the Shapleigh Hardware Co., St. Louis, Mo. On January 1, 1918. All 155 revolvers were shipped with 6 ½” barrels and blued finish. A trulysuperior Triple Lock Target Model which has seen little use. From the estate of Larry Gaertner.
