The lot features an original beaded hide doll from the Shoshone Native American Indian people and dating to circa 1920’s to 1930’s. The doll shows an Indian tanned hide construction with trade clothe sewing over a padded wire frame making the doll able to be articulated. The doll shows glass trade seed beads along the moccasins, fringed leggings, wars shirt, shaw, gauntlet gloves, collar, and necklace. The piece is expertly crafted with a large size showing braided horsehair and porcupine quilled headdress hair roach. The piece still has the tag from Sundog Gallery stating it to be a 1920’s to 30’s Shoshone Doll for $350.00. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. Measures 14 inches high with a 3.5” diameter base.
