This is a two piece carving set--knife and fork--with ivory scrimshaw handles. The scrimshawed handles depict Alaskan scenes: a polar bear fishing, and an Inuit in a Kayak at sunrise with an airplane overhead. The scrimshaw is signed "Nuguruk". Nuguruk, according to an Ebay guide, was "a Seattle company of the 1960's and even earlier, which obtained cutlery blades and fittings, often from Germany or England, and then hired local people to produce scrimshaw ivory handles." The knife and fork measure 10" and 8.75" respectively. They are in excellent condition.
