Scarce and Fine Whitney Kennedy Lever Action Rifle
Produced circa 1879 - 1886. Folding hood front sight with an adjustable rear sight and an adjustable folding peep sight mounted on the upper tang, with the top of the barrel marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. U.S.A." followed by "KENNEDY" in front of the rear sight and the caliber at the breech. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and buttplate. Smooth walnut forearm with steel forearm tip, straight grip stock, steel crescent buttplate with compartment and cleaning rod. These are seldom found in any condition.

Condition: Very fine, with 95% bright original blue finish remaining on the barrel and 50% on the receiver with the balance fading to a crisp gray patina and some light spotting on the receiver and buttplate. The hammer and buttplate retain strong traces of casehardening. Excellent stock, with minor pressure dents and surface scratches. The forearm has a few minor areas where the finish has peeled. The action is excellent.
