Scarce Winchester Model 1895 Flat Side Lever Action Rifle with Cody Museum Letter
This is 1 of only 5,000 Model 1895 rifles manufactured with the flat-sided receiver. The included Cody Museum letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, and plain trigger. The letter states that the rifle was received in the warehouse on October 9, 1896 and shipped on the same day with one other firearm on order number 20001. The rifle has a blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight on a barrel marked with the two line address on the top flat. The upper tang is drilled for a sight mount and stamped with the two line model marking. Directly behind the trigger is marked "PAT NOV. 5, 1895 / -- NOV. 12, 1895 --" and the serial number is on the lower tang. Smooth tapered forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Refinished. The rifle retains most of the dull blue finish showing some thinning to a brown with some light surface scratches on the receiver and some finished over minor pitting on the magazine. The forearm and buttstock are replacements with a few mild handling marks. Mechanically fine.
