This is an excellent example of a very late assembly of an M1D Sniper rifle that used a late H&R rifle receiver as the base weapon. Most of the M1 D were based on Springfield M1 receiver however this rifle appears to be completely correct. The receiver has the late H&R markings followed by the late serial number, the barrel is correctly marked on the side with SA-6-52 with no hand guard ring cut on the other side of the barrel. It has a mix of both HRA and post war Springfield Armory parts as follows; the bolt is a 19SA, the hammer is a SA-2 marked, with a HRA marked operating rod and trigger housing and safety. It has a post war gas cylinder with a single slot gas plug. It has been fitted with an original all walnut stock and handguard set. The stock does not have a cartouche on the side however with the M1D any cartouches or stock proofs are usually found on the lower left side of the buttstock under the leather cheek piece. Since this stock has an original GI leather cheek piece laced on and in place on the stock we can't remove it without cutting the laces. The rifle has been fitted with an GI type M1D scope mount with an original M84 scope. The scope nomenclature plate is stamped "TELESCOPE/M84/serial number 40691. The rifle is complete with an original WWII leather sling marked "MILSCO" in front of the keeper, and no other accessories.
BBL: 24 inch
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30-06
Finish: parkerize
Grips:
Serial Number: 5791763
Condition: Arsenal refurnished overall with 95% of the late gray-green GI style parkerized finish overall with minor wear on the edges and high spots overall with some minor wear on the receiver side wall, operating rod handle and front sight. The top of the bolt does show some old minor etching or light pitting under the Parkerizing. The stock and hand guards as noted are unmarked but in excellent condition with only minor handling marks in a few places. The scope retains 98% of it's original blue finish with clear optics showing just some slight haze but no specs or flaking inside. A nice example of a late H&R M1D sniper rifle.
